"Song Inspired"

Happy Wednesday! Sure hope it has been a good week so far for you all. I am feverishly trying to catch up with everything. Last week was crazy busy and in the midst of it all my mojo took a vacation! Hopefully it will return soon.;)

This week for our challenge we asking you to create any card/project inspired by a song. Our wonderful sponsor is 3 Girls Jam, and they are giving one random winner a $15.00 gift certificate to their store.
Thank you 3 girls jam!

I have been really excited about this challenge because I LOVE music. It's always on in my house, and I am the crazy chick in the car with the music blaring, windows down, and singing! Of course I had to pick one of my favorite songs by my all time favorite singer, Pink for my project! I went to see her in concert in March. When she first came on the stage she was talking about how she thinks she is so dorky, and then she kind of shrugged her shoulders and said we are all just a bunch of dorks. She then asked for everyone to get up and do the dorkiest dance we could possibly image. OMG it was so funny the entire place, including her, were dancing all silly. Then she sang her song "Raise Your Glass!"

Raise Your Glass
[Chorus]

So raise your glass if you are wrong
In all the right ways, all my underdogs
We will never be (never be) anything but loud
And nitty gritty dirty little freaks
Won't you come on (come on) and raise your glass
Just come on and come on and raise your glass

It really set a fun relaxed tone for the night. I have always interpreted the song to mean that no matter what celebrate who you are, and never let anyone make you feel less than! I decided to make a corner bookmark for my project:

I knew that I wanted an image of a girl with big glasses! I requested some help form my Whimsical friends on the WD Facebook Page, and of course they came through with some great suggestions. In the end, the winner was this adorable image, Vintage Violet form Saturated Canary. I cut her out using a nestability, and colored her with copics Of course her hair had to be pink. I added Diamond Glaze to the glasses, and some chalk to the cheeks. I used Tim Holtz, Black Soot, to distress around the edges. To make it a bit more fancier, I added some ribbon, and a Recollections embellishment. I thought the sentiment from the "Whimsical Designs-Volume 1"stamp set went perfectly with this image, and for the interpretation of the song.

Take a look at the video..it's great and Pink is so adorable and funny..my favorite part is when she smells her arm pit and then the who cares face that follows!

"So Stinkin Cute"

Good morning! Phew it is almost Friday. It has been a really busy week and I can't wait for the weekend so I can just chill out. It is time for a new challenge at AUD Sentiments and this week we are creating a project for a mother or child with an appropriate sentiment. Our wonderful sponsor is A Day For Daisies. For my card today I used the super cute digital stamp "Wild Violet Nymph" from their shop.
I created the card and the layers in my Silhouette Design Studio Software. She is colored with copics. I  ran out of Copic paper and had to use an off brand so you can see some bleeding of the colors. It was also extremely difficult to get the colors to blend properly. I was going to re-color her and use my prismas but I was so short on time. I used my MS punch for the butterflies, added some pearls with a pearl pen. The sentiment is from the Whimsical Fun-Volume 1 stamp set. Be sure to head on over to the AUD Sentiments Challenge Blog for all the inspiration from the fab DT.

Have a great day!! As always, thanks for stopping in.

"Mix It Up"

Good morning Whimsical Crafters. Hope everyone is having a great week. They sure are flying by! Our challenge this week is mixed media and our fabulous sponsor is Tabitha's Designs. One random winner will receive two digital paper packs of their choice.

For those of you who are not familiar with mixed media it is defined as a technique involving the use of two or more artistic media in a single composition. This can include but is not limited to ink, paint, paper, and sprays. There are lots of fabulous mediums out there for mixed media.

Here is what I have created:

I started with the butterfly chipboard piece, and painted it with gesso for a base coast. Then I used my Tim Holtz Distress inks, and Faber Castell Big Brush PITT pen to add color. I finished it off with some rock candy crackle paint, and stickles. Once the butterfly was done, I used the Tim Holtz, Rays, embossing folder, coordinating distress inks, and the PITT Pens for the card. Once I got the desired effect, I took some white acrylic paint and splattered it around. I finished it off with a sentiment from the  Whimsical Designs Whimsical Fun-volume 1 stamp set.

Our super talented DT has come up with such a great variety of fabulous inspiration:

I hope all the fabulous mixed media projects will kick start your mojo to create your on own mixed media projects. We can't wait to see what you come up with. Be sure to stop by all the DT blogs for details on their projects.

Iris May Hatter and Sketch Challenge Winners

Happy Friday! I hope it was a good week for everyone. Before I announce the Sketch Challenge winners I have a quick card to share. When I saw the challenge over at Little Miss Muffet Stamps was paper piecing I knew I had to give it a shot. I have never tried paper piecing a stamp before, so it really was a challenge for me.

The stamp is "Iris May Hatter" from Little Miss Muffet Stamps. I have paper pieced her hat, and colored the rest of her with copics. I wanted this card to have an old vintage feel to it so I did a lot of distressing of the paper with my Tim Holtz Distress Tool, and Distress Inks. I also frayed the edges of the lace, and added some pearl trim. Iris reminds me of one of those flapper gals from way back when..so I tried to go with that theme. The papers are Carta Bella-Well Traveled. The sentiment is from  Whimsical Designs Everyday Sentiments stamp set.

I am entering the following challenge with Iris:
Happy Campers: Use Lace
Crafty Creations: use Something old (lace) and something new (stamp, and designer paper)
Flutter By Wednesdays: Must have a butterfly or fairy. I added a butterfly to the flowers.

Thanks to all who continue to enter our weekly challenge. It is always fun to see everyones entires, and the interpretation of the challenge.  Here are the Sketch winners:

Good morning and Happy Hump day! This week our challenge is to alter something. Our wonderful sponsor for this week is V's Sweet Ideas. One random winner will win a $10.00 gift certificate to the store. Thank you V!!!

Here is my altered flat back canvas:
I had this canvas sitting around in my craft room forever and thought it would be perfect for this challenge. The stamp is a Prima Mixed Media Doll-#6, colored with copics. I did lots of inking, spraying, and stamping on the canvas. Layers are key when it comes to mixed media, so you just keep adding until you get the result you want. The sentiment if from the Whimsical Fun-Volume 1 stamp set.

Skin: E000, E00, E02, E11
Dress: RV21, RV23, RV25, RV29

Give Peace A Chance

Good morning! Did everyone have a good weekend? We took advantage of the beautiful weather and spent most it out and about. Now I need to catch up with some crafting. Today I am sharing a card I created for my daughter. She had her SAT's on Saturday and was a nervous wreck. She was MORE than prepared for the test, but still was so nervous. I just wanted to remind her that she is fabulous, and that she would do great.
That little girl is "Give Peace A Chance" by Sylvia Zet. I added lots of layers with paper from the Boho Chic-First Edition stack, and Kraft Cardstock from The Kraft Outlet. The flowers are from I Am Roses, and are sprayed with Lindy's Stamp Gang Sprays. I added some leaves and butterflies using  MS Punches. That gorgeous lace, and pearls are from SA CraftersI finished off the inside and totally forgot to take a picture..oops!

Copics Used:
Skin: E000, E00, E02, E11
Flowers: R81, R59. R56  Centers: E15, E57, E59
Pants: B91, B95, B97
Shirt: YR12, YR15, YR18
Hair: YR23, YR21, E15

Thank you for stopping by today. See you here on Wednesday for a new WW Challenge!
